ET WATER SELECTED WINNER OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BUSINESS TIMES GREEN PRODUCT AWARD
Corte Madera, CA, (June 13, 2008) ET Water's weather-based irrigation control system was selected as winner of the “Green Product” award by the San Francisco Business Times. In the June 13-19 issue the Business Times states: "We are proud to honor the Bay Area people and companies and organizations detailed in these pages for their commitment to sustainable business products. The Bay Area continues to lead the nation and the world in this regard." There were nearly 200 nominations for the award program's 14 categories including energy efficiency, green finance, green design, green products and services, etc. It was judged by a distinguished panel of Bay Area experts in sustainability.
The Times said "ET Water's Web-based controller not only reduces irrigation water use by up to 50%, it saves users money and saves the environment by reducing runoff. Smart controllers also conserve electricity. According to the California Energy Commission, water needs consume 19% of electricity and 30% of natural gas consumed in the state."
Bruce Cardinal, ET Water's founder, says "we’re proud that the San Francisco Business Times' panel of judges recognized the many environmental benefits of our technology. Given that landscape irrigation accounts for 58% of urban water usage, that Governor Schwarzenegger officially declared a drought for the first time in 22 years, and that utilities have instituted water restrictions, the case for our smart controller is increasingly compelling".
